Grayson began his wrestling career at a Newcastle Pro Wrestling event on April 15, 2017 under the ring name Matty Wahlberg. He lost his first match to SnapChad.He later formed a professional wrestling tag team with Carter Dreams called it THE BABES. On March 14, 2021, it was reported that Farrelly had signed with WWE. On his June 11 episode of 205 Live, he made his WWE debut under the ring name Grayson Waller, defeating Sunil Singh. September 28 episode of NXT, Waller unsuccessfully challenged Roderick Strong for his NXT Cruiserweight Championship. His November 9 episode of NXT, he lost to Solo Sicore in his match Triple His Threat, which also participated in his L.A. Nights.
On his Nov. 23 episode of NXT, Waller teased fans and did just that. Waller and Sanga competed in a tag team gauntlet match for the vacant NXT Tag Team Championship, eliminating them from the Creed Brothers. He then turned on Sanga and defeated him a week later on the April 19 episode of NXT. Waller then briefly feuded with losing debutant Nathan Fraser at NXT Spring Breakin’.
Waller then pursued the North American NXT Championship by getting Carmelo Hayes to sign a contract. At NXT: The Great American Bash, Waller lost to Hayes after interference from Trick Williams and Wes Lee. Waller nonetheless blamed Wes Lee for his defeat, and due to interference from Williams, defeated him on the July 27 episode of NXT.
